Building on the many years that the Greenville Jazz Collective and Furman University jointly presented the camp at Furman University, the Greenville Jazz Collective is starting a new chapter at the Greenville Fine Arts Center.
The camp is structured to help high school and middle school music students build jazz performance skills. During the week, students will learn jazz improvisation and jazz history, take part in master classes, and participate in both small group and big band settings. Each day will be packed with discovery, learning, and inspiration!
Our featured artist/educator will be Justin Stanton. Best known for being an integral performer in the Grammy-award winning group Snarky Puppy, Justin is active as a composer, producer, and performer on both trumpet and keyboards. At the camp, he will lead the primary big band, lead masterclasses, and work with combos.
In addition to Justin, clinicians already confirmed for the Jazz Camp include:
Students who have worked with Greenville Jazz Collective clinicians at past Summer Jazz Camps have gone on to study and perform jazz at educational institutions including Berklee, Juilliard, Oberlin Conservatory, Eastman School of Music, and University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.
The camp is open to
1) High school students (including 2026 graduates), and
2) Middle school students, with a teacher endorsement
During the registration process, students will be asked to complete a virtual placement audition (to help the camp leadership place the student in appropriate ensembles). This can be done in the form or at anytime before June 1st.
June 15-18, 9a -1p each day.
There is easy access to drop off (beginning at 8:30a) and to pickup (no later than 1:30p). There will be a closing concert on the last day, June 18 at noon that student families are invited to experience!
